With hair dyes featured in Rebel Ink, Inside Inked, and Allure magazines, Barton Miller, colorist at our New York City studio, is well-positioned to define latest trends. Using dynamic new additions to Goldwell’s world-class color line, his latest collection, titled ‘Sundancer,’ captures summer’s drift towards new interpretations of red, especially those made in the spectrum of blonde –– which gives a lighter, airier feeling to flushed tones.

Inspired by Gustav Klimt, whose work is renowned for overt eroticism, Barton’s blushes, from vibrant to rusty, offer a similar breed of fiery animal magnetism. To create these inspired hues, he artfully blended pioneering hair colors with inventive, original technique.

“My color palette is inspired by the dawning of spring, so I created a foiling pattern that resembles the sun and its beams,” explains Barton. “Goldwell has a great variety of high-quality colors and I was able to mix the HighLift Top Chic line with different shades of red to create colors that were true, but also different and new. I wanted plenty of brightness and pop in each model, so all shades were finished with Goldwell’s Elumen, which is amazing for a bright finish that pops on stage, in photos, under sunlight.”

The vibrant red on the left (main image, top) is great for anyone who likes to be the center-of-attention. It’s a striking and vivid and bold single-process combination of coral and scarlet.

The curly-haired model wears a dimensional terra cotta color. We love the way the tone scintillates with the shape and movement of the girl’s natural texture.

Finally, there’s Barton’s ombre 3.0. “We’ve been doing ombre for a few seasons now, and it’s clear it is here to stay, so it’s important to keep updating it and adding variety –– to maintain inspiration and to have new ideas to share with clients,” Barton says. “In this version, I put together the trend for lighter reds with a classic dark brown.”
